U.S. customers can now purchase genuine replacement parts directly from Apple Self Service Repair.
Announced today, Apple Self Service Repair is now available to US Apple customers and will be available to European customers later this year. Repair manuals, parts, and tools will be available for Apple products. The Apple online store has over 200 parts and tools available for iPhones while parts for Mac computers will be available later in the year.
How to start Self Service Repair
Apple customers will first need to go to https://support.apple.com/self-service-repair. There you would review the repair manual for the product you want to repair. Next customers will need to navigate to the Self Service Repair Store to order the parts necessary to make the repair. Tool rental kits for $49.00 will be available for customers not looking to invest in the tools needed for the repairs. Apple offers the same tools used in the current Apple repair network.
Apple continues to expand access to service and repair
Over the past three years, Apple has doubled the number of service locations with access to Apple genuine parts and certified service. Apple’s Self Service Repair is a continuation of the effort to make it easier for customers to get their Apple products repaired. Apple stated that eight out of ten customers are now within twenty minutes of an authorized service provider.
